Whether you’re in the mood for brunch, barbecue, or something totally unique, living in Lexington, KY places you close to all of your favorite foods.


This wine bar and tapas lounge has the look and feel of an upscale restaurant without the prices and pretentiousness. Enoteca serves several meat and cheese plates in addition to their tapas selection of patatas bravas, gazpacho, Brussels sprouts with manchego cheese, beef tenderloin served with a green peppercorn sauce, and chorizo puffs, to name a few. Portions are small and sharable, making it an excellent choice if you’re dining out with a group of people, and you can easily save room for dessert. Enoteca also has an extensive wine, beer, and cocktail menu.

Blue Door Smokehouse

A divey barbecue joint that usually has a line out the door, Blue Door Smokehouse is known for its smoked-to-perfection meats and homemade Southern sides, like potato salad, ranch beans, slaws and collard greens. Get a sandwich or a platter of brisket, pulled pork, pulled chicken, sausage, or ribs. Even if you don’t identify as a barbecue addict, you have to check out Blue Door Smokehouse.

Saul Good Restaurant & Pub

Saul Good’s downtown Lexington location is antique-inspired, warm, and welcoming, with a menu that is chockfull of flavor. Saul Good serves a variety of appetizers, salads, pizzas, sandwiches and entrees. Try the steak and beer cheese nachos, the portobello sandwich, or the chicken coq au vin. They’re also known for their particularly tasty desserts, like the Bananas Foster waffle, Nutella hot chocolate cake, and cheesecake. You really can’t go wrong with whatever you order here.

Cosmic Charlie’s

It’s a smaller music venue, but don’t let that fool you: Cosmic Charlie’s has something going on every night of the week and features live music from a variety of genres. We’re talking everything from bluegrass to burlesque. Staff members at Cosmic Charlie’s are known for their friendliness and are universally well-liked, something that’s hard to come by in the live music community. They also have a full bar with a good selection of draft beers.

The Beer Trappe

As Lexington’s first craft beer store, The Beer Trappe is dedicated to offering one of the most diverse selections of beer in the country in a friendly neighborhood bar setting. The bar features eight rotating taps of craft beer, and they have more than 500 different types of bottled beer from around the globe. If you’re new to craft beer, enroll in Beer School, a weekly informative tasting where you can go behind the scenes of beer and learn everything you’ve ever wanted to know about suds. It’s a low-key kind of place, and it’s great for watching a game, too.
